 Chinese National Stadium

Located in the Olympic Greem, the stadium cost US$423 million. The design, which originated from the study of Chinese ceramics, implemented steel beams in order to hide supports for the retractable roof; giving the stadium the appearance of a "Bird's nest". Leading Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was the artistic consultant on the project.The retractable roof was later removed from the design after inspiring the stadium's most recognizable aspect.Ground was broken in 24 December 2003 and the stadium officially opened in 28 June 2008. A shopping mall and a hotel are planned to be constructed to increase use of the stadium, which has had trouble attracting events, football and otherwise, after the Olympics.

The large steel skeleton of the project weighs 42,000 tons, with the roof and the hanging parts around it accounting for 11,200 tons. To bear such a heavy load, 78 supporting structures were temporarily installed and distributed in different points under stress, i.e. 24 supporting structures along the outer circle, 24 in the middle circle and 30 in the inner circle. The current task is to discharge all these supporting objects from a weight of 11,200 tons.

Beijing National Stadium hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, athletics events, and football final of the 2008 Summer Olympics from 8 August to 24 August 2008. The stadium also hosted the Opening and Closing ceremonies and athletic events of the 2008 Summer Paralympics from 6 September to 17 September 2008. Though designed for track and field events of the Olympics, the stadium will continue to host sporting events, such as football, afterwards. A shopping mall and a hotel, with rooms overlooking the field, are planned to help increase use after the Olympics. Li stated, "This will become the most important public space in Beijing."

I'm a curious type of person. But not gumun (in Javanese). The more I wonder,  the more I want to know.

Few days ago, my sister Runni talks about Maicih chips or Spicy Cassava chips which have spiciness level, from 1 to 10. 1 is the least spicy and 10 is the most spicy. Actually I am never tried the chips because I'm not so fond of spicy food. Maybe that's because most of Jogja's food is sweet. But if a friend is willing to treat me to eat Padang Food, then I will gladly accept.

Driven by my curiosity, when a friend from Bandung came, I order one pack from him. The rumors were true. The chips was really hot! I only eat a little, but then I need to drink more than 2 glasses of water. I was only order level 5. What will level 10 taste like??!

There was nothing special about the packaging. I think the sensation of spiciness was more important. But I saw the back of the package, and found something interesting. The text reads: "From every purchase of a product Maicih, you contributed Rp 100, - for the preservation of the environment." I think this is very extraordinary. We could eat and give charity at the same time. 



According to what I read from my sister, Maicih chips also have a unique marketing strategy. They will move their selling-spot according to their twitter update. So if we want to know where is the location of the Maicih shop, we must follow their twitter and always update their latest status.


I think moving around according to twitter update, is a unique way of marketing strategy. Unlike other foods which already have an exact place to buy. This type of strategy is something that can become good example. Although it could be a little trouble, because we need at least four-wheeled vehicle with a huge baggage to store chips. But in other point of view, we can see that the people who follow Maicih updates means they are fanatics fans. So if we are producing certain product with fanatics consumer, we can use this method.

In winning, he set the record time, with ten hours, seven minutes and 48 seconds. Just 75 cars will be produced, and to accentuate the model’s links to the racing of a bygone age, each one will do without a roof, side windows and windscreen.

However, before ordering one, you should realise that all this power comes at a price. A price of some €900,000, to be precise. Current SLR owners, however, were permitted a sneak preview, and have been involved in the development of this new toy, evaluating its design since 2008, then excitedly taking the first road tests. As a result, many of the 75 new cars have already found their buyers. The rest of us can just watch and wonder.

Pudong: Rapidly-Developed Shanghai's District

Shanghai, the largest economic centre in China, has been known as a centre for commerce and for the blending of Western and Oriental cultures.  Today, Shanghai has set a new goal: to build itself into an international centre for economy, finance, and trade in the 21st century.  To reach the goal, they feel that it is vital to develop Pudong.  The Pudong New District is named for its location: east ("dong") of the Huangpu River, the last tributary flowing into the Changjiang (Yangtze) River.

The Pudong New District covers 522 square kilometers and touches the Changjiang in the northeast, Hangzhou Bay in the south, and the Huangpu in the west, thus enjoying favourable conditions for the construction of a harbour and for water transportation.  It has a large area for further development, an advantage seen in few other coastal areas in East China.  Ten years of unremitting effort have greatly improved the infrastructure in Pudong.  The construction of the Inner Ring Road, Yanggao Road, the Century Boulevard, the No. 2 underground railway across the Huangpu River, the Pudong International Airport, the Pudong International Information Centre, the Waigaoqiao Power Plant, and the first phase of the Pudong Deep-Water Port has not only improved the investment environment but also helped form a modern new multi-function district with a foreign-oriented production.

To develop modern industries, Pudong will focus on high technology, including electronics, information science, bio-pharmacy, and new materials. Today, Pudong has a hi-tech district covering 60 square kilometers. The district has so far attracted Umore than 6,000 projects from 67 countries and regions, thus acquiring one of the densest concentrations of capital in the world.
