The model of modern industrial in IT, focused on devising the technical, application and information structures and infrastructures which made for integration and connection possibility for world economic structure, since beginning of industrial era, “Since the 1980’s the dominant model for information technology (IT) has been an industrial one.” (McDonald, line 1) then IT become the important one for growth of modern industry nowadays.

Then the modern based on IT has some of characteristic and the new model and principle which have made need a process to show the benefits of its work. “This is not happening overnight, but a newer model is emerging based on different principles and producing different results” (McDonald, line 105) here are the characteristic, below :

 

Owner operated technology, making industry business which shown with structure of selling optimisation.

Enrolment is the strategy, describe the relationship between IT and the rest of the enterprise.

Users are our customers, as IT systems developed for customers who does not really have a choice about the type or style of systems and support they get.

Symmetric Investment, defines the idea that companies needed to invest heavily in IT to get significant benefits.

Capital Expenditure (CAP EX) intensive, characterized the core financing model as companies capitalized IT investments and depreciated them over time

Business Case/Benefits Realization is an administrative task, required to agree the IT budget as the benefits of automation that seen as evident and not readily considerable. 

Complexity is the design result, Optimizing IT for each individual project built up complexity in small increments across all of IT.

Resource based management, manage most important resource in modern industrial IT that was the time of IT specialists, not the benefits stream of their work or other factors.

Multi year time lines, IT investment is the land of the multi-year program, the global deployment, the transformation initiative.

Beside that, IT also focused in developing small part of the industry, such as the IT organization, employment and skills, which become most important in manipulating industry results. 

“Those are important considerations, but they are the result of changes in the fundamental model or IT.  Sorry to sound professorial, but people change for a reason and those reasons reflect deeper changes in the way things work.” (McDonald, line 102) 

That makes some different way of working become better industrial management and production, as the result of development IT in modern industry.
